"My Dad needs 24-hour care. Because his budget was only $2,000/month, I knew there was nowhere to go. So my family has been taking shifts throughout the week, caring for him. But it was slowly killing us. "My Dad's doctor told me to call Tom at Senior Samaritans. that perhaps he could suggest something. Tom dove into our family dynamics, my Dad's care needs, and our financial landscape. He understood our problem. He discovered that my Dad would qualify for the VA Aid & Attendance program, helped us with the application, and told us EXACTLY what we needed to do to get approved. The program netting my Dad an additional $1,788/month. "My Dad's budget was suddenly increased to $3,788 and he was able to afford a beautiful board & care in his neighborhood, which, of course, Tom helped us find. My Dad even got his own private room. "AMAZING! We NEVER even knew about the VA program. If it wasn't for Tom's expert knowledge, quick response, and detailed guidance, my family and I would still be stressing out trying to figure out how to care for Dad."

"All I can say is that I had NO IDEA what I was doing. My husband's Alzheimer’s reached a stage where I could no longer care for him at home. I became very frustrated about what I was going to do next. "Then I was introduce to Senior Samaritans and it all came together so quickly. Tom stepped in, understood our needs, and helped me find a great place that was close enough for me to visit everyday and was within my budget. "I am more thankful than these words could ever express."

"My Mom had been in a rehab facility for about a month or so. I was told she'd have 100 days. Well, they were wrong. On a Friday afternoon, I received a call from the social worker telling me the insurance was no longer going to cover Mom as of Monday, and that our cost per day was going to be $250/day. You can imagine the panic that overcame me. "But the social worker told me to call Senior Samaritans for some guidance. Not only did Tom answer the phone late Friday afternoon, but he changed around his weekend plans to help us find a solution before Monday's discharge. He set up a tour of 3 places for us on Saturday, he picked us up and drove us to all 3 places, educating us along the way on the pros and cons of each. All 3 places were great fits for my Mom. My family and I selected one of them, we moved Mom's furniture on Sunday, and Mom had a new home by Monday. It was as simple as that. "It could not have gone any smoother and more efficient. It's amazing the amount of stress that was relieved from my mind after Tom took care of my family's needs. I couldn't have asked for a better gift."

"I received that dreaded phone call – the one I knew I would get at some point. My 90 year old mother, who lived alone 3,000 miles away, fell and fractured 4 ribs. Hospital, pacemaker, rehab – now what? Upon my arrival, it was obvious mom could no longer live alone and needed 24/7 care. I was clueless and out of my comfort zone. From home I made the mistake of connecting with a major organization that is known for helping find a place for one’s mother. I thought I would get a head start before going to CA. Not knowing how the system worked, I didn’t realize that by just talking on the phone, they would "own" and monopolize my mom’s name. I was given lists of possible places for her and was on my own. When the rehab told me mom was being discharged, I didn’t know what to do or where to turn. The social worker handed me Tom’s ‘Senior Samaritans’ brochure and advised me to call him. I did and it was the best decision ever. Tom got back to me right away and with that very first conversation, he put me at ease and assured me my mom could be suitably placed in the time frame we had. He also helped me realize that assisted living was not the right fit for her; that Board & Care was really what she needed. With that, he did the research and found 6 appropriate places with availability. He didn’t just email me the names and addresses like everyone else - no. Tom met me at the rehab, met my mom, and then personally drove me to all 6 places. He went into each one with me and patiently waited while I looked around and asked questions. No one does that! I can’t say enough about Tom Borsuk – he is a class act. Sincere, real, caring, helpful – the real deal. If you need help placing an elderly loved one in southern CA, do yourself a big favor and call Tom first – it's a decision you will be so happy with. Thank you Tom!"

"My mother-in-law was in a skilled nursing facility after an auto accident in 2015. We received a call (on Thanksgiving Day) to let us know that her insurance coverage was ending the next day! We needed to find a place for her right away. We were in a panic as we tried to assess the situation until we called Tom Borsuk. He was compassionate, patient, and knowledgeable. He was both friendly and professional at the same time. Tom helped us to find the ideal spot - Max Maxim Senior Care, a residential Board & Care home. Every nurse, doctor, physical therapist, social worker, and friend who visited her there reported the same thing -- cleanliness, personal attention, excellent meals, and an extremely supportive environment. We could not have been happier with the care facility Tom helped us to find. My mother-in-law recently passed away and for much of the last year had suffered from advanced dementia. However, we look back at this time with gratitude both for Tom’s help and the loving environment that she experienced at Max Maxim Senior Care."

"My mom was diagnosed with Parkinsons about 2 years ago, quickly followed by dementia and a very progressive type of dementia. This caused her mobility, cognition and general health to decline rapidly. As usual, when you start researching online, you start getting phone calls, form letters, non stop offers to send you lists to explore on your own. I stopped at a facility and was given Tom's card. I called him and his guidance, expertise, personal touch, follow up and kind caring attitude changed everything. He was there for me when it was difficult, painful, and overwhelming. Tom always made time to discuss anything I had questions about and if it weren't for him, I'm afraid we may have chosen the wrong facility for my mother. My dad and I looked and consulted with Tom for the perfect fit and we feel we made the right choice through his guidance. This process is not easy. Anyone going through it has no idea what is to follow, from making a life changing decision, to guilt, to sadness and grief. I have learned a lot from touring facilities, talking to people at the facilities, and trying to believe we were doing the right thing for our family member. Tom was there through the whole process. The facility we ended up choosing was one of Tom's first suggestions. After hearing about my mom, he thought this would be a good fit. We moved mom in 3 weeks ago and as sad as it was to see her leave her home, we know in our hearts she is safe, being taken care of with the best possible care we could find. Tom went above and beyond and I know he is still there if I have questions. He made appointments for me to meet with Directors, helped negotiate, advised on medical needs prior to signing contracts and listened to my tears over the phone more than a few times. Our family feels blessed to have found Senior Semaritans and Tom Borsuk through this difficult time. Thank you Tom for everything. We are truly thankful we found you."

"Mr. Tom Borsuk of Senior Samaritans is one of the most dedicated people I know when it comes to helping families recognize the need for elderly care planning and helping them implement that plan. He is not only professional, but he demonstrates a genuine concern for those in need. It takes a great deal of integrity and experience to take time to interview, not only the person concerned and their family, but also the doctors, nurses and case managers that have been handling the family, in order to find the perfect fit for their needs. He sincerely has a passion and heartfelt need to be of service to the elderly. "I highly recommend Tom's services to anyone who needs long term or short term care."

"THANK YOU...THANK YOU...THANK YOU, TOM BORSUK!! My dad (who has Alzheimer's) has been in a large, institutional memory care facility for almost 4 years... Our family decided Dad would be happier in a home environment. Trying to find the right fit for him was frustrating and confusing until I saw a testimonial about Tom and Senior Samaritans on a memory care facility's website just 3 days ago. I "googled" Tom Borsuk and Senior Samaritans, and with Tom's help, we were referred to a perfect "Board & Care" home that has an "awake staff" at night for my wandering Dad. We are so happy to say he will be moving from his institutional memory care facility to his new home in just 10 days! We are so lucky to have found Tom and are so thankful for his caring and helpful assistance in finding Dad the perfect home. We are forever Grateful! THANK YOU TOM!"

"I started my business about 2 years ago. Up until now my clients have been healthy. But then one of them had a fall. Since she has no family, I was it! The injury, the hospital, the rehab were each in itself a learning experience. Her doctor said she needed 24/7 care and I was lost. I got a list from the rehab place and smack in the middle was Senior Samaritans. I called and after talking with Tom I was blessed. He picked me up and took me to 5 places. I was concerned that perhaps I was premature in looking for a place, as I didn't have a release date yet. But Tom said it happens fast. He was right. I was told on Friday she was being discharged on Monday. I believe this crossing of our paths was divine intervention. My client is now in a really nice Board and Care. Tom followed up several times. I highly recommend Tom. Tom is capable, professional, helpful and efficient...... a real Godsend."

"In August of 2016 it became obvious that my mother would need assisted living. She had suffered a mild stroke and was not capable of living by herself. I contacted a number of facilities and signed up on-line with a service, but did not have enough knowledge to make the right decision. I did not feel comfortable that I was getting real advice. Tom was recommended to me and after just one meeting it was clear he was the right person to help. He knows the right questions and gives undivided attention to finding the right place. "Thanks Tom, you have made both my mother and me very happy."

"It was not very long ago, that I was stressed and overwhelmed. I had no idea where to go, or what to do concerning my mother's care needs. Where would I find a 24-hour memory care facility in a matter of days? "Fortunately, I was given Tom Borsuk/Senior Samaritans' phone number. Tom was incredibly patient and knowledgable as he ascertained my mother's needs. By the next evening Tom drove us to the "perfect fit" for my mother. It was an answer to our prayers. "Over the last several weeks, I have come to appreciate Tom's efforts even more as my mother is thriving in her new "home". Senior Samaritans and Tom Borsuk "ministered" to my mother and my family and we are so grateful."

"To everyone with a loved one who needs some type of elder care................. TOM BORSUK is your man! "My aunt of 94 yrs could no longer take care of herself. With Tom's help, we placed her in a board and care. The nurses at the rehab gave me Tom's brochure and said you won't be disappointed. He came highly recommended. I called him and told him of my Aunt's needs. Tom is a gentlemen and is very positive. He set up some board and care places for us to go and interview, He picked me up at my home and drove me to all the locations. He will answer all your questions. He knows the ins and outs of all these places. He showed me a high-to-low range of cost facilities, so I got a real good feel of their value, so to speak. "Tom helps you with all the paperwork. He talks to the case managers and social workers on your behalf. He is with you every step of the way. This was all overwhelming for me and without Tom I could not have done this. I found the perfect board and care facility, thanks to Tom. This is a free service. Remember, he is with you every step of the way. "Thank you, Tom for all your help. Celinda and Frances."

"We wanted to express our appreciation for the help and support our family received from Tom Borsuk as we searched for a residence for our 96 year old father and his wife. Our loved ones had reached a position where their current assisted living facility could no longer manage their health needs affordably. Based on a recommendation from their current location, we contacted Tom. Best thing we ever did! Tom provided us with a concise overview of our options in a supportive, caring way, and patiently showed us several Board and Care options. One of these proved to be a perfect fit, a beautifully appointed facility with a terrific, caring and qualified staff. Thanks to Tom, we were able to move from an extremely emotional situation to what proved to be the best possible solution."

"I cannot thank Tom enough for what he did for my family and I in finding a home for my sister! My sister is 55 years old and has had medical needs throughout her life due to alcoholism. At the beginning of May 2023, I took her to the ER and she was admitted. She stayed there for about 3 days and was then transferred to a nursing home. She stayed there for about 3 - 4 weeks and they told me that she couldn't stay there any longer due to no improvement (she was improving, just not as fast as they would like). Tom took the time to call/meet with me in finding a new place for her. I will be forever grateful that someone was there for my family and I in our time of need! Thank you so much Tom, you are amazing!"

"I usually don't write reviews, but Tom absolutely deserves one. My Mom had a major stroke a few months ago and required a high level of care. I had no idea where to start, but luckily I was given Tom's information from my Mom's rehab facility (short stay facility) and he took all the stress off my shoulders. He found my Mom a place that is 3 miles or less from where I live. It's clean and run by a great staff. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you Tom, I appreciate it more than you know."

"Tom personally helped my brother and I find a place for my father who was being pushed out of assisted living at Westminster Gardens Duarte into skilled nursing . His follow up is the best that anyone could ask for. When you talk with Tom you can feel he's genuine in his care and concern for seniors and the families with seniors."

"I am so grateful for Tom and the work that he does. He is kind, compassionate, and very knowledgeable about senior care options. Tom's guidance and expertise truly helped us navigate finding the best care for my Dad. I have worked with Tom twice over the years and highly recommend him to anyone looking for the right care for their elderly loved ones. Several years ago, after my Dad suffered a head injury, Tom helped us find an appropriate residential setting for him that provided the assistance he needed, while helping him stay as independent as possible. Recently, after a series of small strokes and hospitalizations, it became apparent that my Dad now needs a higher level of care. Tom helped us navigate finding and considering the available options, and making the best decision we could for my Dad. During the process, Tom was very patient and it felt like he truly cared about helping us find the right care home for my Dad's specific needs. It's not an easy process in many ways, but it was manageable with Tom's caring and knowledgeable guidance. There truly are angels among us. Thank you, Tom!"

"Tom Borsuk saved my sanity! When my very independent mother fell and fractured her pelvic bone, the doctor stated she can no longer live alone. There was little time and they would be releasing her. Not knowing where to start and having a limited budget, the Social Worker gave me the Senior Samaritans brochure. I called. Tom asked the right questions, gave me options and found a wonderful Board and Care that’s not far. I can't not tell you the emotional roller coaster that Tom helped me through. He still checks in to see how it’s going. What a gift, Thank you isn’t enough."

"We are so thankful that Mom's healthcare/rehab center highly encouraged us to contact Tom for his expertise. The need to move Mom from her own apartment to a place that could provide the proper care happened so fast --- and at time when we had other family challenges. From day one Tom was responsive, professional and encouraging that the right place would be found. And he was right! Tom has a wealth of knowledge, enormous patience (we had a lot of questions) and sincere empathy for what we were going through. Years ago we considered moving Mom to a care facility and contacted A Place For Mom (referral organization). That was a disaster as we were inundated with people trying to convince us to use their services. We regretted ever giving out our personal information. With Tom is was an entirely different experience and there was zero stress. In fact, Tom did all the work and we simply had to follow his lead once we provided all of the details about Mom's health and her care requirements. He was a God send to our family and we are so grateful for his help. I think "samaritan" is a good word, but "angel" is more descriptive of Tom. We highly recommend Tom to other families that need this help --- he's simply the best."

"My dad was ready to move from a skilled nursing facility and we thought we had a great board and care settled but at the last moment that fell apart. We were worried about how we would quickly find another place that we felt comfortable with and was close to us. We contacted Tom and within two days he was showing us several lovely homes. He truly made the process so fast and simple. It's never easy to make these decisions but he made it as easy as I think the process could ever be. Highly recommended!"
